Kathmandu University takes great pride in the distinguished contributions of its alumni to national public affairs, as Nepal enters a new phase of political and institutional development. The current Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Mr. Balendra Shah, is expected to resign from office in order to contest the parliamentary election scheduled for March 5, 2026. In accordance with legal procedures, Deputy Mayor Ms. Sunita Dangol is likely to assume the role of Acting Mayor.
